Zhongwei is a city in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Zhongwei Railway Station is on North Street. Long Distance Bus Station is on East Street. There are a number of budget restaurants near Gaomiao Temple for you to choose from, some of which may look awful but serve reasonable food.

you can visit the tengger desert from here, but if you're looking for desolation: DON'T. the area is transformed to meet the wishes of the chinese tourist. that means it's more a theme park than a desert experience.although the chinglish on the signs is a lot of fun...
