On the northern tip of Scotland, the ideal place to go skinny dipping in the freezing sea on one of the beautiful and often deserten beaches

Thurso is on the most northern part of mainland Scotland. Famed for it's "Caithness Flags," slabs of local sandstone used for pavements, etc. This is a very small town, but has a couple of nice cheap hotels to stay at if you plan to ferry over to the Orkney Islands.

Thurso is the northernmost town in Scotland, in the middle of Caithness, Sinclair lands. There is a viscount Sinclair, and lots of Sinclair family history. The town is on the same latitude as Juneau, Alaska and Stavanger, Norway - beautiful to visit in late spring through early fall.
