Smiltene is a town in Valka District, Latvia with approximately 6 000 inhabiatants. There are plenty of busses going from Riga, the capital of Latvia, to Smiltene. Use your feet, the town is small. Swim in Lake "Niedrājs" or do cross-country around this lake in winter, pine woods and nordic feeling.
