Silverton Hotels

Silverton is a small town located in San Juan County in southwestern Colorado. Once famous for its mining resources, it is now becoming famous with the extreme sports set, for a famously tough endurance run and a recently-opened ski resort that focuses on giving skiers a back-country experience. Look for accommodation in Telluride, 12 miles to the northwest, or try finding hotels in Durango, 38 miles to the south, or Ouray, 15 miles to the north.

Silverton Travel Tips

Beautiful small western town North of Durango. Wear or bring something warm and drive slow up the hill. Also, if you go in the Winter, plan to get snowed in. But, what a great place to get trapped. Timothy L.
silverton is a nice village. you can see old mills and mines almost everywhere. make a tour to the "old onehundred" where you can try to wash gold at your own and go right into an old mine. pay attention to very low temperatures even it is very hot outside. BrownDirtCowboy
Picturesque little town way up in the mountains. Getting there in the winter can be a scary proposition, especially if you have to travel over Red Mountain Pass. It's steep, narrow two-lane road with lots of switchbacks, and no guardrails. Chris
