Put-in-Bay is a wonderful place to visit from the Sandusky Bay area! I took a wonderful ferry ride there with a bunch of my friends, then rented bikes on the island of Put-in-Bay! Put-In-Bay is a great sailing destination if you are in the vicinity. Once on the island you can walk pretty much anywhere but you can also rent scooters to get around.
