The Noto Peninsula is in Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. Noto is one of the most remote bits of mainland Japan. Its first and most famous chronicler was Ōtomo no Yakamochi, an 8th century poet and bureaucrat best known for compiling a large part of the Man'yoshu, Japan's first anthology of poems. When staying in Noto Peninsula, we recommend Notonosho (6 km north), Hotel Route Inn Wajima (6 km northwest), and Yashio (7 km northwest).
