Luray is a small town, but there is plenty to do in the area. The caverns are worth a visit and one of the (few) entrances to Skyline drive is nearby. Be aware that speeds can be very slow on Skyline drive and exits are few and far between. Well worth it if you catch a glimpse of a brown bear …

Your best bet for lodging in this area are camp sites, there are several nice ones, some even focus on families with children. visit the shenandoah state park, it is the nicest state funded park in western virginia and unlike natural bridge and Mt. Rogers no one really knows about it.
