Lao Cai Hotels

Lao Cai is a town in northern Vietnam. It is on the border with China, adjacent to Hekou. There are several night trains each day from and to Hanoi. Buses run from Kunming and other cities in Yunnan to Hekou from where it is a short walk over the border to Lao Cai.

It would be a pretty long walk, I imagine, from the train station to the Chinese border. We took a motorcycle taxi. Quick, cheap, convenient. Emma D.

Not the best place to stop by but if you are on your way to China you might want to stop near the border and have a quick look at the temple or even the park near the river (pass the train rails and walk for 5 minutes.) Most of the travellers comming from Hanoi to Sapa via train need to stop in Lao … Olivier T.
