Kashgar is in the extreme west of China and the Southwest extreme of Xinjiang. It is also at a junction between two branches of the old Silk Road. Kashgar has been an important trading centre since the days of the Silk Road, and still is today. When staying in Kashgar, we recommend Wen Zhou Mansion, Kashi Tianyuan International Hotel, Yambu Grand Hotel, Kashi New Delhi Hotel, and Qini Bagh Hotel.

Sometimes getting a train ticket can be a pain if you are in a hurry to move forward or don't want to upgrade to the most expensive sleeping option. This place took my breath away. People live in either mud huts or buildings made with precast concrete slabs. Most of the inhabitants there don't look Chinese at all, many of them have an Arabian influence. And they don't speak Mandarin or Chinese, they have their own language and also characters. … Mirjam S.
