Iona Hotels

Iona an island in Scotland. It is 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles across. The monastic community on Iona was founded in 563AD by Colum Cille from Ireland, who was driven out of his homeland, Ireland, in the 6th c.

It's pretty 'out of the way', but that's its charm. You feel a million miles away after the ferry ride from Oban and the drive across Mull. I visited once on a day trip, and once for a week. The Argyle Hotel is well worth it. Managed to get a deal (I'd called pretty much last minute... it was get in there or head back to Fionnonfort on the last ferry since the BBs and hostels were full) for bed, (with ensuite) and 3course dinner and breakfast. Iona is the little island off the tip of the Isle of Mull in Scotland. There is a small ferry to cross over to Iona. Do not bother to try to take a car. Everything on Iona is within walking distance.
