An important industrial hub, the city is home to many companies, including Honda Motor Company, Roland Corporation, Kawai Pianos, Yamaha, Sony, Suzuki Motor Company and Hamamatsu Photonics as well as a large air base for Japan's defense force. When staying in Hamamatsu, we recommend Hotel Concorde Hamamatsu, Okura Act City Hotel Hamamatsu, Richmond Hotel Hamamatsu, Kuretake Inn Central Hamamatsu, and Kuretake Inn Act Hamamatsu.

Hamamatsu Travel Tips

For 750 Yen you can take an elevator ride to the top of Act Tower and get an excellent view of the city. The best time to go is right before sunset so that you can see the city in the daytime and hang around for the nightlights to come on. Joshua J.
When visiting Hamamatsu Castle Park, be sure to find the waterfall - there's a great pavilion for a picnic lunch. Joshua J.
If you're into cycling, be sure to check out the cyclists' path around Lake Hamanako - up to 80km of great scenery. Be prepared for high winds, however. Joshua J.
