Goma Hotels

Goma is the touristic capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, located in the extreme east near the Rwanda. In 2002 Goma was destroyed by lava from the Nyiragongo volcano which buried most of the town’s streets, particularly the town centre. When staying in Goma, we recommend Lake View Apartments and Hotel (2 km south), Stipp Hotel Gisenyi (3 km south), and Lake Kivu Serena Hotel (4 km south).

Goma cheese....$5USD for some of the best Gouda i've ever tasted! Its not just a small slice like you have here in Canada, you get a full wheel of cheese. Also the veggies in Goma are cheap, you can get a plastic shopping bag full for $10! Excellent fruits and Veggies. David K.

Don't be fooled by the fact that it's Africa: Goma can get pretty cold. I recommend hotel Ituri in front of lake Kivu. It's clean, decent and has a great swimming pool for laps. Yara E.

Just go for the day from Gisenyi--keep a low profile--don't bring your camera with you. But so long's you don't show off, everyone's friendly and you won't be bothered.
