Chama is beautiful with a wonderful view as you descend from the pass coming from Taos

Be careful driving the area in winter. The passes are tricky and the pass between Taos and Chama may often be found closed. There's a way around it going north through Colorado, though. But then you miss the beautiful drive. Bring a map!

This place is beautiful in the winter, an old railroad town. Go snowmobiling, and go to the "Mexican Restaurant". It's only open like one day out of the week, and it's quite the experience.
