I have lived in Auburn, don't go there. It is just a small town just like all the ones surrounding Auburn. Just one big mall, and that is it. Downtown is really nothing and there are some scary people on the streets. It would bring nothing cultural or educational to your trip. Wouter V.
About two blocks away from the fred meyers, there is a park with a old tank and a huge steam train, it is really an amazing place for a little date, also at the begining of the same street is a fabulous restraunt/ truck stop/diner called The Starting Gate, which has an amazing cheese burger deluxe Savage Mike
