Apeldoorn is the pearl of the Veluwe area of the Netherlands. Although the city centre is quite ugly (as architecture fan), there are some nice areas. Besides there is "Het Loo" a royal palace of the Dutch Royal family as well as the "apenheul" (monkey zoo) and the kids theme parc "Julianatoren".

Apeldoorn. This is very fun for parents with kids.Try and go to the "Apenheul" Sounds weird in english, but it is a park for Monkeys, Aap means monkey in dutch. (so that you know) Anyways, Apenheul is a park where 50% of the monkeys walk free. So they can crawl up your hat and stuff. Very cool …
